The Climatic Conditions Of Japan

The climate of Japan will be moderate most of the times. The temperature varies a lot from north to south. The geographical feature of Japan has been divided into six zones depending upon their principal climate. The six zones are Sea of Japan, Seto inland, Hokkaido, central highland, Ryukyu Islands and Pacific Ocean.

Hokkaido is the northernmost zone among all the six zones of Japan. The temperature of Hokkaido will be of long and cold winters also with cool summers. Rainfall will not be heavy, but there will be deep snow bank found in winter season over the islands.
Sea of Japan zone is located at the west coast on Honshu. There will be heavy snow fall due to the wind blowing from northwest during summer season. This region gets a lot cooler than compared to pacific area of the country. There can be occurrence of very hot temperature sometimes; this is due to the phenomenon of the Foehn wind which blows through the zone.

The central highland will always have a typical inland climate; there will be huge difference with temperature during summer and winter season. There will be huge temperature change also during day and night times. Rainfall will not be heavy. The Seto inland sea will be protected from the seasonal winds by Chugoku and Shikoku, the two mountains present in the inland.

The Ryukyu always carry on a subtropical climate. The country is blessed with hot summers and cool winters. The rainfall in this area is very heavy. Heavy rainfall is recorded in the rainy seasons. Typhoons occur very often and hence it’s very common in this inland.
